The CHILDCARE MINISTRY provides childcare for our New Parishioner Welcome Receptions while their parents attend the reception. We continue to need people to support orientation and faith formation events, including SYCAMORE beginning in late September and a new YOUNG PARENTS MONTHLY DINNER.
- ·SYCAMORE takes place on Fridays from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., including dinner. Sycamore is an informal course about the Christian faith and its relevance for life today. It gives space to meet other people, share ideas, explore your beliefs, and think about questions that really matter. Each session involves a short film and time for discussion. The objective is to provide Childcare so that parents with children can attend these SYCAMORE sessions, a date night.
- YOUNG PARENTS MONTHLY DINNER is held on Monday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and includes dinner and social time. Couples who have completed Baptismal Prep have expressed an interest in meeting other young parents.
- THE NEW PARISHIONER WELCOME RECEPTION takes place in late September and in January and April 2024 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided at the Welcome Reception, so parents can focus on getting to know other parishioners and learning more about St. Tom’s. We want their children to have a great time. Fun activities for children as well as snacks, are provided.

Volunteers commit to whatever programs or sessions they choose to, since we know student and resident parishioners have many commitments. If you decide to join the CHILDCARE MINeas, eISTY, we will reach out to you and ask if you can assist at different events. You can let us know if you can or can’t help. If you are already in compliance with the Diocese of Lafayette Safe Environment Protocol – great! If you have not completed the Background Check or online training to comply, we can walk you through the simple process.
