About the Book of Exodus: The Exodus event is ancient, yet always new. It is the foundational event in which the Israelites came to know YHWH (the Lord) and to know themselves as a people. It is the experience from which we continue to know who God is and what it means to be God’s people. The passage from bondage to freedom, from death to life, is the story of all of the people of God. The Exodus narratives tell of the experience of the revelation of God, the personal divine presence acting in history to bring people to freedom, and is the very heart of Jewish and Christian faith. Parishioner Alice Hession will share how the oral traditions of the Israelite people in the Exodus narratives are a call to new hope for followers of Christ today.
