Winterization is sponsored by Wesley Campus Ministry and is the single largest day of service for Purdue students. It also includes a large cohort of Boiler Catholic students as participants. Through Winterization, Wesley Campus Ministry is committed to helping older residents (and others who need help) in greater Lafayette/Tippecanoe County free of charge. Last year, 1,600 Purdue student volunteers raked leaves and did other outdoor chores for 320 local residents. This year’s Winterization takes place on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 4. In addition to raking leaves, volunteers will be cleaning windows, clearing gutters, trimming bushes and branches, weeding, and other yard work.
Note: Since Winterization is organized by the Wesley Foundation, BC students who want to join fellow Boiler Catholics should select the "St. Tom's (Boiler Catholics)" group when they fill out the form. Also, after signing up, be sure to join the GroupMe to stay informed about details on the day. For questions, contact Tim Sloan, Hands and Feet of Christ ministry coordinator, at [email protected].
