Fr. J.D. Rooney, OP, will be here this month to talk to us about the orthodox Catholic teaching on hell and the afterlife. Fr. Rooney’s presentation, “Not a Hope in Hell,” will take place on Friday, July 28, at 7:00 p.m. in Newman Hall. Don’t miss it! Among the questions to be explored include what happens to non-Christians after they die, what role God has in creating a world with sin, how we can be happy in the next life if our loved ones are separated from us, and how we can have hope.
Fr. Rooney is an assistant professor of philosophy at Hong Kong Baptist University, and his work is primarily in metaphysics, medieval philosophy (Aquinas), Chinese Philosophy (Neo-Confucianism), and Philosophy of Religion. He is also a Dominican friar of the Province of St. Albert the Great (Chicago, IL) and a Catholic priest.
