Planetary scientist and physicist Jonathan Lunine from Cornell University will speak about evolution at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Center on Wednesday, March 6, at 5:30 p.m. Hosted by the Society for Catholic Scientists, Prof. Lunine's presentation is titled "Father Lemaitre: The Catholic Priest Who Discovered the Big Bang" and will take place in the Church sanctuary. A reception with Prof.Lunine will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Newman Hall. All are welcome!
A convert from Judaism to Catholicism, Professor Lunine is one of two National Society of Catholic Scientists founders and a National Academy of Sciences member. At Cornell, he is the David C. Duncan Professor in the Physical Sciences and chair of the Department of Astronomy. Having published more than 380 research papers, Lunine is at the forefront of research into planet formation, evolution, and habitability.
