Winterization is sponsored by Wesley Campus Ministry and is the single largest day of service for Purdue students. It also includes a large cohort of Boiler Catholic students as participants. Through Winterization, Wesley Campus Ministry is committed to helping older residents (and others who need help) in greater Lafayette/Tippecanoe County free of charge. Last year, 1,600 Purdue student volunteers raked leaves and did outdoor chores for more than 300 local residents. This year’s Winterization takes place on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 9. Besides raking leaves, volunteers will be cleaning windows, clearing gutters, trimming bushes and branches, weeding, and other yard work.
